Overview and forecast of world PP capacity growth

the world's PP capacity was 31 million tons in 1999, increased to 34 million tons in 2000, reached 36 million tons in 2001, and is expected to reach 48 million tons by 2005. Among them, the Middle East and Africa grew the fastest, accounting for 60% of the global PP increment. The main reason is that Saudi Arabia increased its production significantly, which increased the annual production capacity of the region from 750000 tons in 2000 to 1.95 million tons in 2001. The global demand for PP increased from 30million tons in 2000 to 32million tons in 2001. It is estimated that the global demand for PP will reach 41million tons in 2005

the annual growth rate of PP demand in Asia Pacific region exceeded 10% in 2000, but only increased by 5% in 2001. China will establish a large-scale petrochemical/plastic joint venture with shell, ExxonMobil/Saudi Aramco and BP (3) to determine the sample size (original gauge length and original cross-sectional area of the sample). The modernization and expansion of production capacity of China's PP industry will alleviate the imbalance between domestic PP supply and demand in the next 10 years; India also plans to accelerate the development of PP industry in the next three years. The total PP capacity of India is 1.4 million tons/year, of which trust company is 1 million tons/year. The company has built the largest 350000 tons/year PP equipment in the world in 2000 in the petrochemical complex in hajira, India. It is estimated that by 2010, the Indian PP market will reach about 3million tons/year. In order to meet this demand, trust company will rapidly expand the petrochemical complex in Jamnagar. Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea will also expand production capacity

in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Iran have become major PP producers. Saudi Arabia's PP production capacity has reached 900000 tons/year. Saudi polyolefin company SPC (a 75/25 joint venture between Saudi petrochemical industry company and Basel company) will build 450000 tons/year PP and other chemical fiber equipment in Jubail. By the end of 2003, Saudi Arabia's PP production capacity is expected to increase to 1.7 million tons/year. At present, Iran has only 100000 tons/year of capacity for the establishment of China's graphene industry technology innovation strategic alliance in Beijing, but it will complete 460000 tons/year of new capacity in 2003, and other new plans are also under consideration. Central and South America will maintain self-sufficiency, and the PP production capacity will be dominated by Brazil; Central/Eastern Europe is dominated by Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, but Russia will also expand production capacity

according to overseas statistics, the top five PP producers in the world in 2002 were: Basel 5.578 million tons/year, BP 3.34 million tons/year, atofina 2.08 million tons/year, ExxonMobil 1.695 million tons, Dow Chemical 1.385 million tons/year
